Propeller Plant or Winged Spyridium
Spyridium vexilliferum var. vexilliferum

This species is relatively easily observed in our coastal heath but is uncommon across the state of Victoria where it is confined mostly to coastal areas west of Port Phillip Bay.
It is a low-growing shrub producing dense flowerheads in spring which are subtended by 2 or 3 white floral leaves, giving it its distinct appearance and the common name of Propeller Plant. This floral structure can be seen all year round.
Leaves are dark green above with the under-surface whitish but often obscured by curved (revolute) leaf margins.
